Join our team!  In this role you will performs tests, repairs, and maintenance related to pipeline corrosion.  Some of your responsibilities will include:

  • Inspecting and testing facilities and equipment to identify existing and potential corrosion problems.
  • Recommending a course of action to eliminate or retard corrosion activity.
  • Installing and inspecting cathodic protection equipment.
  • Repairing, replacing and servicing corrosion equipment components.
  • Identifying outside currents negatively affecting company operations and initiates corrective steps.
  • Performing leak and odorant tests.
  • Monitoring advancements related to corrosion technology, practices, techniques and regulations.
  • Maintaining interactive work relationship with Specialists and Engineers to accurately and effectively complete job responsibilities.
  • Directing and supporting contractors to complete evaluations and reports and to develop mitigation measures to effectively address deficiencies in the cathodic protection systems.

Relocation assistance for this position is available dependent upon eligibility requirement.

Requirements

Corrosion Technician:

  • A minimum of two years of corrosion control and cathodic protection experience or 3 years natural gas field experience OR
  • Military service members and veterans with ranks from E3-E5, W1-W2, or O1-O3  plus appropriate equivalent combination of education and years of experience as outlined above;
  • NACE I Certification (or must obtain within one year of employment and BHE GT&S will reimburse the successful candidate for the cost of this certification.) 

Senior Corrosion Technician:

  • A minimum of four years of corrosion control and cathodic protection experience or 5 years natural gas field experience OR
  • Military service members and veterans with ranks from E3-E5, W1-W2, or O1-O3 plus appropriate equivalent combination of education and years of experience as outlined above;
  • NACE II Certification
  • Knowledge of corrosion control and electrical principles. Knowledge of DOT regulations related to corrosion, odorant, leak testing and record keeping. Ability to use and maintain corrosion testing and cathodic protection equipment. Ability to define problems, collect data and draw valid conclusions. Ability to work independently. Ability to operate diagnostic testing equipment. Ability to interpret maps, plans and blueprints to locate pipeline facilities. Ability to communicate effectively, speak persuasively and develop rapport. Ability to operate personal computer and utilize software packages. Ability to work effectively in inclement weather conditions. Three years corrosion technician experience in related industry preferred.

Education Requirements

Education Level: Degree or an equivalent combination of education and demonstrated related experience may be accepted in lieu of preferred level of education: Associate , Other Education: technical

Licenses/Certifications

Corrosion Technician - NACE I certification (Or within one year of employment)

Sr Corrosion Technician - NACE II certification
