Job Summary
ElectriCities of North Carolina, Inc. is seeking an Energy Data Analyst to support our member communities with analysis, reporting, and accurate billing statements. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys data analysis, problem-solving, and contributing to reliable and affordable electric service through community-owned electric systems. This position provides opportunities to gain and apply knowledge of the electric systems that power the North Carolina economy, including transmission and distribution systems, metering, billing, and rate design.
Primary Responsibilities
- Run SAS-based programs and perform data analysis to prepare billing statements and reports for energy and demand, with consideration of how solar, battery, and other demand-side systems reduce monthly energy costs.
- Oversee telemetry and meter data systems (MV-90xi) to ensure reliable data collection for electric customers and electric generators.
- Maintain databases for meter configuration and customer information to ensure accurate electric billing results.
- Support monthly/weekly checkout and reconciliation with power market counterparties, Accounting, Finance, and Risk Management.
- Develop and improve analytic processes to improve decision-making that lowers costs for our customers through power market transactions and utilization of load management and distributed energy resources by the 24×7 Operations team.
- Provide management with cost-benefit analysis and revenue summaries.
- Motivate and assist our member communities in their annual preparation and submission of annual federal Electric Power Industry Reports (EIA-861) and support quarterly FERC EQR filings for power market sales activity.
- Foster an environment of teamwork and collaboration with other ElectriCities departments and maintain a positive professional working relationship with members.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements
Physical Requirements
The Energy Data Analyst must maintain the physical condition necessary to perform tasks in an office setting such as operating a personal computer, keyboard, and other peripheral equipment. Occasional travel within the state of North Carolina and periodic travel within the U.S. for training and development purposes are required.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in finance, accounting, engineering, science, or business-related field or five years of progressively responsible experience in utility billing or equivalent combination of experience and education.
- Analytical thinker with excellent attention to detail, communication skills, and a strong customer service mindset.
- Self-motivated, organized, and able to manage multiple priorities under deadlines.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office products – Excel, Word and Power Point.
- Experience with remote metering translation software such as MV90-XI or AMI systems is strongly preferred.
- Experience with SAS, database queries, PowerBI (or similar business analytics platform) and advanced Excel functions is preferred
